Motorists will encounter lane closures as work gets underway this week for a road preservation project on Interstate 80 in parts of Centre and Clinton counties, according to PennDOT.
The project is scheduled to get underway Tuesday, July 14, between mile marker 164 in Marion Township, Centre County and mile marker 171 in Porter Township, Clinton County.
Beginning Tuesday, crews will implement rolling lane closures on I-80 eastbound and westbound while workers survey concrete joints, mark areas for patching and set up advance traffic control signage. Closures will alternate between the travel and passing lanes multiple times through July 24.
PennDOT anticipates contractor HRI Inc. will implement a long-term lane closure on I-80 eastbound in the work area on July 26, when concrete patching, milling and paving will begin.
Work is expected to occur through the end of the construction season in November and continue in 2027.
PennDOT says it will issue traffic updates as needed as work progresses.
The $13.4 million project includes concrete repairs, milling, paving, installation of various intelligent transportation system devices, guide rail upgrades, line painting and miscellaneous construction.
